Timothy C. Nichols O.D.
Dr. Nichols is a native of Birmingham and attended college at Florida College, The University of South Florida, and The University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry. Upon Graduating in 1981, he received the Feinbloom Low Vision Award.
In September of 1981 Dr. Nichols and his family moved to Albertville and assumed the practice of retiring Dr. J.F. McLendon.
Dr. Nichols is a member of the American and Alabama Optometric Associations. He serves in the Albertville Rotary Club and on the boards of several professional and civic organizations. He has participated in numerous medical mission trips the Central and South America as well as rural parts of the U.S. In 2002, he was recognized as the Alabama Optometric Association's Optometrist of the Year, and the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry Alumnus of the Year.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Nichols especially enjoys hiking, camping, and waterfowl hunting. He is also active in his church as a deacon and class teacher. He has appeared in numerous community theater productions and often works behind the scenes as a scenic artist. He and his wife Lei Ann live in Guntersville.
Kathryn B McCurdy O.D.
Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Dr. Kate McCurdy moved to Birmingham in 1995 and graduated from Hoover High School. She completed her B.S. degree in microbiology at Auburn University. She earned her doctor of optometry degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed an externship at Tuscaloosa VA hospital. She is a member of American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, National Optometric Association, and Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity. She has participated in several medical mission trips, including Honduras, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. She and her husband both see patients at the Albertville and Barfield Nursing Homes. Dr. Kate also has a clinical interest in the pediatric population. She is a member of First United Methodist Church of Guntersville. In her spare time, she enjoys music, golf, running, and spending time with her husband and son Luke.
D. Rich McCurdy OD
Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Rich McCurdy completed his B.S. degree in engineering from North Carolina State University in 1991. He earned his doctor of optometry degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed an externship at Duke University Eye Center. He was awarded the Vision America Co-Management in Ocular Disease Award in his fourth year of optometry school. He also received residency training in ocular disease and low vision at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, and Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity. He has participated in several medical mission trips, including Honduras and Dominican Republic. He and his wife both see patients at the Albertville and Barfield Nursing Homes. He is a member of First United Methodist Church in Guntersville. Dr. McCurdy enjoys golf, tennis, music, reading and spending time with his wife and son Luke.
