Astigmatism and Low Vision

People who have astigmatism typically experience blurry vision as one of the primary symptoms. Should the blurriness persist or get worse, it may interfere with everyday activities like driving a car, running errands, preparing meals, or using a computer. Astigmatism is easily corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses. Sometimes, surgery may be recommended.

Generally, astigmatism is correctable with prescription lenses. However, the conditions resulting in low vision can’t be corrected with glasses or contacts. Once a loss of vision has occurred, it can’t be restored.

That’s where Dr. Kate McCurdy can help. Using a combination of low vision aids and glasses, we can enhance your remaining vision so that you can get back to doing what you love.
